Calculus I

122A/B, 125

Calculus I can be satisfied by either completing the Math 122A/B sequence or Math 125, but placement into these courses is different. See eligibility for more information.

Math 122A and Math 122B are intended to be taken together, in the same semester.

Math 122A is a 1-unit course with class meetings from January 11th through February 6th. Students who complete Math 122A with a grade of C or higher will be eligible to continue on to Math 122B (First Semester Calculus). Students who do not complete Math 122A with a grade of C or higher will be administratively switched out of Math 122B and into Math 120R (Calculus Preparation). Both Math 122B and Math 120R will begin on Tuesday, February 7th.

Math 122B is a 4-unit course that will run from February 7th through the end of the semester. Eligibility is a grade of C or higher in Math 122A. Students who complete Math 122B with a grade of C or higher will be eligible to continue on to Math 129 (Calculus II) if they need. More information about Math 122B (including textbooks, calendars, and resources) can be found at Math 122B.

Math 125 is a 3-unit accelerated version of Math 122B. This course is for highly motivated students who have some experience with Calculus. More work is done by the student outside of the class than in Math 122A/B. Math 122A/B is the recommended sequence for first semester students. More information about Math 125 can be found at Math 125.
